Our Well Built Community Fund is our way of saying thank you and giving something back to everyone who has supported us.
Through it we donate £1,000 worth of building materials every other month to a deserving group that is local to one of our branches. This could be a community group or project, school, charity, sports club or care home. You can find out how to vote by clicking 'show more' below.
In the past the Community Fund has helped a primary school develop their outdoor school area, an amateur dramatic club build new scenery, a scout group renovate their headquarters, and a wildlife care centre construct new aviaries for rescued animals, to name but a few.
Initially, we call out asking for groups to get in contact and tell us what project they need materials for and how a donation will help. From all the nominations received we choose three finalists every other month and ask the public to vote for who they think deserves to be chosen.
Until March 2019 we will be asking groups to get in contact and tell us about projects that fit within the below categories – keep an eye on our Latest News page to find out when each category opens for nominations.
To apply for the Community Fund, simply send an email to RGB@pmwcom.co.uk telling us a bit about your project. Alternatively, a letter can be sent to RGB Well Built Community Fund, c/o PMW Communications, PO Box 167, Bideford, Devon, EX39 9DU.
"The Wild Tribe lessons are extremely popular. They enable the pupils to experience the world beyond the classroom, which positively helps with their personal development. The lessons have been set up and are run by Mrs Thompson and she has a lot of exciting ideas. A huge thank you to everyone that voted for us and to RGB Building Supplies for the donation; it will certainly help us to expand our outdoor learning facilities."
"In addition to rehoming dogs, we also focus on supporting owners and The K9 Hub will be an essential part of our work. We'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone that voted for us and to RGB Building Supplies for the donation; it will certainly help us to build the hub."
"The hall was built in 1919 to commemorate the end of the First World War so it's been a central part of our community for nearly 100 years. It's widely used so it's extremely important we continue to maintain and improve the facilities. A huge thank you to everyone that voted for us and to RGB Building Supplies for the generous donation of the materials."
"Due to the nature and age of the Mill it does need continuous maintenance, but as we are a not-for-profit museum, we rely solely on donations and grants. We're therefore extremely grateful to RGB Building Supplies for supporting us with the Community Fund. The repairs were completed by a team of our volunteers, headed up by John Chilcott, who all did a fantastic job."
"We have recently taken over a very run down community space and have already made extensive repairs thanks to the help of local businesses, but there's still more we want to do. We will be aiming to use the £1,000 worth of materials to build a shed to house equipment we use during our workshops and events and also make further essential repairs. We'd like to say a huge thank you to RGB Building Supplies and everyone that voted for us."
"On behalf of CODS, we were delighted to be shortlisted for the RGB community award. As a group, we then worked tirelessly to raise the profile of the award with our friends, family and local town, as well as our followers and asked for their support. We were stunned with the response we got and were over the moon to have been successful in our bid. Since the RGB branch opened in Crediton, we have always used them to buy our materials for all of our productions, and they have been very supportive and helpful over the years. Winning this grant will help us with our production and we cannot thank RGB enough. "
"We are so excited to have this money to spend. It will be wonderful to have an outside area that the children can use all year round. We will be sure to invite RGB back very soon to see the transformation."
"We would like to say a big thank you to everyone that voted for us and to RGB Building Supplies for the donation. The activities we provide children and young adults in Chulmleigh and the surrounding areas ensure they grow up with a wide range of skills, a healthy respect for themselves and their community, and a sense of adventure. It's therefore really important we're able to protect our equipment and we're thrilled we're now able to update our facilities."
"I would like to say a huge thank you to all my family, friends and the RGB customers who voted for Muddy Boots to win the Well-Built Community Fund, I'm overwhelmed by the support, and also to RGB for the donation of materials."
"At Wings we work hard to develop positive relationships with young people to help them feel accepted for who they are and develop their confidence and self-esteem. This enables them to take the appropriate next steps, whether that be applying for a job, going to college, or learning new skills to make them more employable. We want to expand our woodwork area with additional tools and materials so that more young people can begin to learn a trade, and the £1,000 to spend at RGB enables us to do this. A big thank you to RGB for choosing to help us, it is greatly appreciated."
"We are completely self-funded so it can be difficult to upgrade and replace outdated facilities as all our funds are used on the day to day care needs of the wildlife we look after. Therefore the Community Fund grant from RGB Building Supplies is extremely gratefully received and will enable us to create a much needed new aviary. Thank you so much."
"Our three main areas of focus are around healthy eating, physical activity and mental wellbeing. We have already created a training kitchen and small IT suite in our residents' lounge and the £1,000 Well Built Community Fund grant will enable us to purchase the materials to turn a summer house into a small gym in our courtyard. Residents will use the gym to help with their fitness and overall health and we would like to say a big thank you to RGB Building Supplies."
"We knew that part of the floor needed replacing, but we didn't realise how bad it was until we took it all up. The donation enabled us to replace the whole of the floor in the main hall, the entrance lobby and gents changing rooms. The main hall alone measures 15m x 9m, so it was a big job. The new floor has made a massive difference and means the centre can continue to provide martial arts training. A huge thank you to RGB for choosing us as Community Fund beneficiaries and J&R Harvey Builders & Decorators for carrying out the work; we're extremely happy with the quality of the workmanship."
"It's wonderful to see the therapeutic effect that our horses have on the physical and mental health of our riders and support from local companies like RGB Building Supplies really helps us continue providing the service we do. We would like to say a huge thank you to them for choosing us as recipients of their Community Fund."
"I formed the 'Old Gits Club' about a year ago as many retired folk are finding that they have time on their hands and some have lost many of their friends since leaving work. The club has given members a social activity and the chance of meeting new friends and, by making our area look more appealing, also gives them a sense of achievement. We would like to thank RGB Building Supplies for supporting us, it will make a real difference."
"We would like to say a huge thank you to RGB Building Supplies for choosing us as the first recipients of their Well Built Community Fund. As a charity, it can sometimes be difficult to pay for everything that we need to, so the support of companies like RGB is very much appreciated."
"It can sometimes be difficult to raise the money to cover essential repairs and refurbishments that we need to do, so we would like to say a big thank you to RGB Building Supplies, we are absolutely delighted to have won the Community Fund."
"We would like to say a massive thank you to RGB Building Supplies. The materials that we are now able to buy will be a big help in ensuring that we can continue to develop our Forest School for the benefit of children."
"We would like to say a massive thank you to RGB Building Supplies. The materials will go a long way in helping us create a space for mums donating to the milk donor bank, as well as a warmer and more welcoming space for everyone that uses our services."
"Developing our environment to reflect the emotional needs of our residents is paramount, however, as a charity we find our plans are often delayed because we rely on donations, fundraising and grant opportunities. We would like to say a big thank you to RGB Building Supplies for choosing us as a winner of the Community Fund and helping our residents to feel 'at home'."
