As part of our Well Built Community Fund programme, we recently called out to groups, and charities offering support to those with mental health conditions to tell us how a donation of £1,000 worth of building materials would be of help. All the entries have been whittled down to the final three and it's now down to the public to decide who receives £1,000 worth of building materials.
Redannick Care Home, Truro
The residential care home looks after those in the community in need of mental health and dementia support. The home promotes independence and would like to renovate an outdoor area for the benefit of its residents. Redannick Care would use the donation of materials to replace the summer house and overgrown flowerbeds, and add new furniture so it can be a peaceful place for relaxation.
Kingbridge's Men's Shed
The Men's Shed initiative acts as a support network and aims to promote wellbeing. The Kingsbridge group encourages men who are isolated or struggling with their mental health to come together and chat about their feelings and problems, whilst getting hands-on with a DIY project. If voted as a Community Fund winner, the group will use the donation to purchase materials so they can engage with more men in the local area.
The ARC, Truro
Falmouth-based Sea Sanctuary is converting a former cargo ship into The ARC - a residential and day-care centre that will support hundreds of vulnerable children. The ARC will provide stability, care, and mental health services, with a wide range of therapeutic treatments, physical activities, education and life-skills designed to help children reach the next stage in their life and become valued members of society. If voted as a Community Fund winner, Sea Sanctuary will use the donation of materials to create a sensory room onboard The ARC.
The public can vote for who they would like to receive the £1,000 worth of building materials by one of three ways:
Votes can be cast between Monday 25th February and 8am on Monday 11th March. Votes cast outside of these dates will not be counted and can only be made at a branch during normal opening hours. Only one vote per person via one method of voting will be counted.
We wish all three finalists the very best of luck.
