We're delighted to have once again joined forces with South West-based charity Amigos to invite customers and members of the local community to donate preloved tools, which will go on to be used by young people in Africa.
For the past 13 years Amigos has been providing vocational learning opportunities in Uganda including training in carpentry and building techniques, and apprenticeships. The training helps young people gain vital employment to help support themselves and their families.
Between Monday 3rd February and Tuesday 31st March, carpentry and building tools, which can be used by the young people in their training, can be dropped into the collection bags at any of our branches. Amigos will then arrange for the donations to be collected, repaired and shipped to Africa.
Phil Pugsley, CEO of Amigos, commented: "We are so grateful to have the opportunity to partner with RGB and their wonderful customers again. Please do not underestimate the value of a simple act of kindness to change lives, because that is what the giving of tools through this campaign is helping to bring about for young Ugandans.
"They already have the 'heart', Amigos gives them the training, and the local community can provide the tools, which together will help lift those we work with, their families and communities out of poverty."

Tools for Africa Campaign - guidance on suitability of tools:
Suitable
- Building and carpentry tools
- Screws and nails (with no rust), which are packed in containers
- Battery operated tools as long as both tool and batteries are working
- Wooden handled saws (these can be sharpened)
- Hand tools which are a little rusty
Not Suitable
- Any tools with woodworm
- Blunt, modern, stainless steel type saws from China (these cannot be sharpened)
- Hand tools riddled with rust
- Decorating equipment - pasting tables, rollers, brushes, etc
- Racking and ladders
- IT equipment
